The latest in Chad Ochocinco's (aka Johnson) long list of entertaining antics has earned him a $20K fine from the NFL. While I can appreciate the fact that the NFL needs to keep a reign on certain types of behavior, I'm starting to believe that they really have nothing else to do but to pick on certain players and have absolutely no sense of humor whatsoever. Even the official that he pretended to give the dollar to just laughed it off. They fined Michael Vick less for giving the fans the bird which I consider far more inappropriate. They have fined him for using "props" during his celebrations in the end zone. They fined Randy Moss for simulating mooning the crowd. I think the whole thing is stupid. All I can say is, I hope they're sending all these fines to a good charity.
*Note* After I originally posted this I found an article that said Jay Cutler was fined $20K for abusive conduct towards an official. (He complained about a non-call to Ed Hoculi. As one commenter said, "I guess if you're not Tom Brady, you can't ask the refs for a call." Excellent point if I do say so myself.) Of course, Tommie Harris was only fine $7,500 for punching a guy during the game. If that doesn't solidify my point about the skewed priorities of the NFL, I don't know what does. :)
