Prepping for pigskin

Football season is almost upon us. Unfortunately, this has been the summer of Favre and all that entails. I always liked Brett Favre until this latest incident. I, personally, think he's being a bit of a diva. Every year it's the same thing. Is he going to retire/is he going to play? I don't blame Green Bay for not wanting to sit on the fence waiting for him to make his decision; they've been doing that for the last few years and every year when he decides he's going to play one more year they take him with open arms and everyone's happy. This year, Brett was the one who announced that he was retiring. He even did the paperwork. So when he decides to unretire, after a remarkable four months (or less) of retirement, he's surprised when Green Bay isn't so welcoming. I can't imagine why. Look dude, you were the one who cried at the press conference about quitting the sport. Not that I blame you considering all the blood, sweat and tears that went into your football career, but you can't expect your old team to keep a candle burning for you on the in case that you change your mind again.

Maybe it's just me. Maybe I'm being a bit heartless, but I feel for Aaron Rodgers. The kid finally gets his shot and then Brett upstages him again. What's up with that? Give it up Brett. You don't want your legacy tarnished with this whole mess.

And let's move on peeps. I tried watching the NFL Network last night but I'd say 90% of all the stories and coverage were about Brett Favre. Glad to know there aren't any other teams or players in the NFL right now. Of an hour-long show, maybe ten minutes were not devoted to Favre-Watch! At this point, I'd be happy to hear more about Tony Romo and Jessica Simpson.
