Another example of the great youth of America

I feel the need to comment on the New York governor's call girl scandal. My thing is, besides being totally illegal in every state except the great state of Nevada, this is just rather horendous to think of. He was married with kids, and paid a hooker (doesn't matter how much you get paid when you do the deed, that's what you are) to have sex with him. Is this girl being villified for her acts? Nope, the media is talking about book, movie and record deals for her. I'm not saying that Spitzer isn't totally guilty of solicitation and adultry, but he's being crucified while it seems that "Kristen" is being rewarded for said behavior. Wrong? Yeah, I'd say so.

Look, I know that women seem to always get the bad rap on these types of deals but in this case, I'd say it's deserved. Is this the message you want to send the young girls around the world? Don't worry about going to college Suzie, just get yourself hired as a high-price call girl, make the right connections (no pun intended there) and you can be an insta-star. I say she should go to jail for solicitation and prostitution (are they the same thing? I'm not up on my felonies.). She certainly shouldn't be given money for her "story", or a record deal since that's what she came to New York for (all the way from Jersey folks, that's quite the haul), and talks of movies, etc. The only thing that seems fitting is the centerfold for Hustler or Penthouse. Maybe it's just me. I loved Pretty Woman as much as the next person, but the idea of a hooker lucking out and making it big and it actually happening are vastly different.

Which brings up another point in my book. How come the average Jane working the corner is picked up and booked for solicitation but this girl who has admittedly done the deed is not? Is it because she just has a much more expensive corner to work? Is it because she dresses nice and doesn't look like she's carrying fifteen bazillion diseases? Why is it a double standard? Last time I checked prostitution was still illegal in NY (not that I check mind you) so I say book her, send her to the local jail for a while and she probably won't be popular anymore. Say bye to the deals.
